Every day all week I kept thinking that I would surely feel better the next day but so far that hasn't happened. I don't feel worse except now when I lie down and take a nap, it takes me a couple of hours to get myself back together when I get back up.
But I have a voice mail in to my physician about this coughing. We'll see. The last time I did that, his nurse said, we could give you something but you will be better in two or three weeks anyway.
I haven't done much and I have stayed in the house a lot. But I have been making comments on Jon's blog:

The latest entry and comments drag up that old art versus entertainment issue. I guess that I do have standards based upon learning but in the end I like it or I don't like it (well maybe that is too strong, but I don't care for it).
Pope said that "a little learning is a dangerous thing" but what about too much learning? A modern sophistication?

when the web disappears
I got home from Kentucky about 3 pm today and was working on catching up email when I discovered that I could no longer connect to the internet. One of those BellSouth reports came up with a sixteen digit code and a note to call their help line. But the line was busy... and again busy... and again....
I decided to do a little lying on the couch. I just got up and discovered that the connections seem to be OK again so here I am catching up again. To be unconnected? What a reminder of how addicted I am to being able to send email!

vespers in Munfordville
Sunday was a rainy day. I went to the Presbyterian Church in Munfordville, Kentucky, for the 9 am service. The minister there is also the Episcopal Church in Glasgow, Kentucky. She announced that there would be a Vespers service at 5 pm followed by refreshments that would include oyster stew and ham sandwiches.
Tom Chaney and I went to Vespers. We were asked about coming back to participate in a Lessons and Carols service in a couple of weeks.

back in Horse Cave again
Well, I'm back in Horse Cave, Kentucky, again. It's not quite ninety miles north of where I live. I come for Kentucky Repertory Theatre and I come for my friends.
Tomorrow morning is the Christmas parade. I have been here several past years for this event. A parade in a small town is more fun than one in a big city even if the things you see are not so sophisticated.
